Overview
This great tour will take you through one of the best birding spots in Uganda where all birders wish to search for the rare shoebill. This is a home to over 260 bird species and its near Entebbe International Airport. This means that there is a lot to explore including reptiles like the crocodiles, snakes won't be missed. The activity is done on canoeing where you start with a speed engine boat and board a canoe which will take you through the Swamp using a local guide. Enjoy photographic points, scenic view of Lake Victoria and enjoy your birding day.
Detailed itinerary
Vacate your hotel in Entebbe after a heavy breakfast and then a short drive to Lake Victoria where you will board a speed boat that will take you to the starting point. You are advised to carry your camera, binocular and a telescope to enhance your birding experience. Start a camping experience as you search for the different birds but the main interest will be a rare shoe bill stock.
Other birds in Mabamba Swamp that will be spotted among others include yellow billed ducks, common Squacco heron, Angola swallows, whale headed stork, malachite kingfishers, purple herons, blue breasted kingfishers, spur winged goose, great cormorant, sooty chat, red billed fire finch, little stint, African fish eagles, blue breasted bee-eaters, lesser jacannas, pied kingfishers and many more others.
You will enjoy the snacks while birding and then after go back to the hotel or be dropped at any agreed point and this will be the end of the day.
