Overview

Have a lifetime opportunity to meet the endangered mountain gorillas in the wild and watch the big game including the tree climbing lions only on our 5 days Uganda gorillas and wildlife safari. This outstanding Uganda safari covers gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the rain-forest protected area found in Southwestern Uganda, plus game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife

Pick up from your respective hotel in Kampala and start a 7-8 hours’ drive journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park in Western Uganda. Queen Elizabeth National Park is naturally a rich protected area with 4 of the big five game members exclusive of only rhinos. The 1978sq.kms park contains up to 620 bird species inclusive of the elusive shoebill storks, large number of flamingos, pelicans, malachites, bee-eaters, etc.

Your journey covers a stopover at the Equator for photography, at the point which divides the earth into 2 hemispheres: Northern and Southern hemispheres, drive to Mbarara and have a lunch stopover. Later proceed to Queen Elizabeth NP for refreshments in the evening, overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2: All day enjoy game drive, boat cruise (Queen Elizabeth National Park)

After an early hot cup of coffee or tea, set off for an unforgettable savanna game drive through the Northern section of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Plenty of mammals such as buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, lions, leopards, warthogs, etc, plus birds and this game viewing experience takes 2-3 hours in a 4x4 safari vehicle with pop up roof.

After lunch, enjoy Kazinga channel boat/launch cruise experience for 2-3 hours which comes with remarkable sightings of hundreds of hippos, basking crocodiles, aquatic birds and more.

Day 3: To Ishasha for tree climbing lions watching, Bwindi

Leave the lodge for Bwindi and you connect to the Southwest, expect to view the tree climbing lions relaxed at the fig trees. There are many other wildlife to be spotted including buffaloes, elephants, antelopes. Relax the rest of the evening at the lodge, dine and retire for a night.

Day 4: Tracking Mountain gorillas in Bwindi with Batwa cultural visit

Enjoy an early breakfast, after you will be part of mountain gorilla encounter in Bwindi National Park where tracking to see these massive apes takes 2-6 hours. An encounter with these large creatures will be for one hour, also includes photography, observe and explore how they behave, and so much more.

Walk back to park offices to get your gorilla trekking certificate and relax, later go interact with the Batwa pygmies. The Batwa cultural visit comes with a pack of great entertainment and opportunity to have a deep understanding of Batwa cultures, traditions, practices and more.

Day 5: Transfer to Kampala

Get the best of your leisurely breakfast, after you will leave with pack of lunch and en-route to Kampala, you will have a stopover at Equator. Later, proceed to Kampala or Entebbe to be dropped at your hotel/airport and that marks the end of 5 days in Uganda.
